As the name implies, street racing being another form of auto racing, takes place on the streets and can be properly planned or can be spontaneous. The spontaneous street racing usually takes place on an intersection where the drivers of the two cars halt at a red light before they begin. On the other hand, a well planned and well coordinated street racing event, is properly organized a day before and comprises of staff members that are responsible for the organisation of the event.

The types of street racing and the areas where these races take place can be briefly described as below:

Drag Race

This type of street race can take place in any ordinary street and usually involves two or more vehicles starting from a point to race until a given distance is covered by either of the racers or until only one racer remains in the game.

Highway or Road Racing

This type of street race is commonly famous for being a spontaneous race and is usually held on the Tokyo’s Shuto Expressway. These spontaneous races usually end when only one racer is left in the game. In Japan this type of racing is named as “Wangan” and is held every Friday night.

Touge

This form of street racing implies mountain passes that are too narrow that only one car at a time is permited to cross it. The common areas where these types of races are common include California and Mount Haruna, located on the island of Honshu, in Japan and on the Del Dios Highway in Escondido.

Blackraces

These races named as blackraces are legal races and are quite different from ordinary road racing events. This race is strictly an amatuer race and is played by road legal vehicles. The areas in which these types of races are conducted usually consist of roads with closed ends and are played against time rather than other competitors in the game.

Cannonballs Runs

A cannonball Run race is an illegal road race. It is played by a group of racers and usually starts from one part of the country to the other. Whoever covers the distance in the shortest possible time is declared as the winner.

Motorsports industry has experienced a constant downward spiral over the past few years. Their ratings on television have constantly gone down, as more people tend to find it boring to watch on television. Moreover, live viewers might perhaps be tired of the same driving techniques as most drivers fail to create new styles of driving during their races. Indeed it would be quite difficult for the motorsports industry to be on the same form that they had back in the glory days of Michael Schumacher’s era. That is why there is a need to have a new form of motorsports racing that is new in the eyes of many and not just new, it should be exciting as well. With that being said, Japan has become one of the most renowned countries to develop a form of motorsports, which is the drifting.
drifting

Drifting is quickly becoming one of the most entertaining sports in the phase of the earth. But some would actually say that it is not a sport but a form of art instead. In the typical setting of the motorsports, the way drivers cover corners and sharp would just simply involve slowing down a bit while the drivers steer their way through the turns. The art of drifting, on the other hand, involves a very unique style of maneuvering through corners and turns. Instead of slowing down, the drivers in the art of drifting would rather skid their cars sideways at top speed to cover the corners and sharp turns as fast as they can. Drifting could be achieved by turning slightly on the correct side of the turn and quickly positioning the front wheels opposite to the direction of the turn. In this particular maneuver, the tendency of the car is that it skids perfectly on a turn depending on the timing of the steering.

This is where it gets exciting as people watching smell the burning rubber while the car gracefully skids in very sharp turns and corners. Moreover, it is such a thrill for viewers to see the car drift in very narrow corners and come close to crashing as the car drifts virtually a few centimeters away from hitting a particular obstacle.

Japan despite the devastating Tsunami that nearly swept most of its Northern part of the country, it is still remains a beautiful place and while the world over is still in shock and in solidarity with them; they have come realize that life does not end at that. When life gives you a lemon make lemonade. Life has to continue.  There are races that had been scheduled and will still take place as scheduled. Some of the upcoming racing events in Japan in the recent future includes a very interesting and crazy race known as Street Racing which takes place after midnight every Friday. This type of race usually takes place on public roads and it is considered illegal as they do not seek permission from the authorities. Drivers take the opportunity of racing their racing cars at a time when there are few cars on the road and when they know that law enforcers least expect it. A lot of people in Japan still do not know about this race even though it originated in 1950’s as it is basically done amongst an organized racing group of people. This is worth watching!

Japanese people are known to love racing.  We should not also forget that they are one of the world largest racing car makers.  They love sporting at any time.  Some of the listed events that are up coming and will take place soon include Drag Racing – another type of car racing, Lo-Fi, Kinlay, I love the 80’s and 90’s Party.  These will take place in the month of April. Japanese are not only car racers, they also love horse racing and there are many listed down racing events for anybody who cares to join them.
